Exploring Medical Language, 12th Edition
“I have never enjoyed learning so much; I am dreading coming to the end of the book. The pictures, numerous exercises, flashcards, and online resources, including games, have all been wonderful tools for aiding memory and retention in a fun and interesting way.”
This former student effectively highlights why “Exploring Medical Language” has been a leading medical terminology textbook for 40 years, having sold over 2 million copies.
I co-authored “Exploring Medical Language” with Winnie Starr in 1985 when the Mosby publishing company took a bold risk by offering us a contract.
At that time, there were few such textbooks available for classroom adoption, and we were frustrated that they did not effectively address medical terms constructed from word parts for learning purposes. We wanted the chance to improve this, and we succeeded.
This unique approach to learning has remained one of the textbook’s standout features.
